2000的英语读作Twothousand。Thousand可作名词、形容词，作名词时意为“一千；一千个；许许多多”，作形容词时意为“成千的；无数的”。
thousand可与1000到9999间的数目搭配使用。thousand与数词a、one、two等连用时，后面不加s。若前面没有数目或数量，可用thousands of.. 。
如果把2000看作年份，也读作two thousand。年份一般是四位数，常规年份可以两位数字两位数字地分开读。例如1867年读作 eighteen sixty-seven；1988年读作 nineteen eighty-eight 。整百年的读法为前面的数字加上hundred。例如1900年读作 nineteen hundred；1800年 读作 eighteen hundred。
